marginal economics

Determining if spending the next chunk of money is justified by the return that investment would generate. When applying margin economics, we consider all work that has been performed on the product up to the decision point as a “sunk cost” and therefore don't consider the sunk cost when determining whether to spend the next chunk of money. See portfolio planning.
